Looking for ideas.... I've used 6-in-1 in the 28 oz cans for more years than I can remember. The past few years, I've bought them at either Mariano's or Fresh Farms. Well, these days, I'm not going out and Mariano's has been out of this size since forever. (They have the 6 pound cans.) I thought I could buy them on Amazon but not at those prices ($32 for four 28 cans). Does anyone have any idea where else I might be able to buy them for delivery (either ordering them a la Amazon or a buying from a grocery (or other) store that would deliver--maybe as part of a larger grocery/other order)? Seeing that you’re in Evanston, Marketplace on Oakton had them as of Saturday. If you’ve got a local friend willing to run an errand for you.....

Out of curiosity, has anybody seen 7/11 tomatoes sold here in Chicago? I'm curious about them, as I noticed giant commercial cans of them last year at the storeroom in the basement of Gio's Cafe in Bridgeport (The bathroom is in the basement, so that's how I noticed them.) They had a similar generic looking label, and they seem to be like the East Coast version of 6-in-1 tomatoes. I'd like to see how they compare. They are also labeled as "ground tomatoes," but they do have citric acid added to them.

I always thought 6-in-1 needed to upgrade its branding given that Contadina can put 8 great tomatoes in that little bitty can.

GFS lists the brand on their website so if you're near one of their stores that might be a good place to look. It's a Stanislaus brand so I believe its only available in #10 cans (6 lbs, 9 oz).

Was at Joseph's Finest Meats today and they had 6-in-1 tomatoes. 6 lbs, 9 oz cans for $6.59. I doubt they will deliver, and you don't want to go out But . . . If you combined the tomatoes with an order of various meats, dry-age beef, Italian sausage, breakfast sausage, skirt steak, natural casing hot dogs and, my current crush, spicy beef sticks, it may be worth it to contact third party delivery.

Main reason I suggest this is Joseph's is tip-top I was there today. Also, if you are concerned about social distancing guidelines, they have a number system, lines on the floor and, after a certain number of people, the rest wait outside. I adore the place.


They also had cans of Cuoco "Seasoning for macaroni with sardines" contains raisins, sardines and the first ingredient on the can is Young Fennel. Never saw that before and I stupidly did not buy a can. Next time for sure.

Thanks all. We're not interested in the 6 pound cans and it's depressing to hear that tomatoes are now on the endangered list along with hand sanitizer, wipes, and flour. Sheesh.

We're not leaving the house and unfortunately, none of the neighbors shop at the right places (at least not the neighbors we've spoken to). So Instacart may be our only option for the immediately foreseeable future...or convincing our neighbors that they need to do a good deed!

of absolutely no help for most perhaps but we were always able to purchase both 6-in 1 and 7/11 at your local Restaurant Depot locations...but this was now 6 years ago so...how do they say it here "your mileage may vary".

The few reviews they have on Amazon are pretty good. Will have to try it. Reminded me of my wife's late grandmother. She loved pasta with garlic and anchovies but never made it because no one else in the family would eat it. She was happy that I joined the family because it became our shared dish. Looking forward to trying it with sardines.
