I've had an ultra-cheap V-Slicer for at least 30 years (greatest infomercial ever?) and it's still going strong. It's not particularly versatile or tough but what it does, it does pretty well. I also have a fancier mandoline that I received as a gift some years back and it's still in a drawer, bnib.
