I was in there 2 weeks ago and things seemed to be very confused, and there was almost nothing other than cookies available in the bakery area. Maria was there, but she said she was just helping out until the new guys got things up and running. I hope it can get back to the way it was, particularly since Bacio's is closing.

Jilter- The changes under the previous owner were subtle. They tried to do the same things in the same ways, and I thought that the food was still good, but the atmosphere was different to me, not as friendly and inviting as when Maria was running it. Hopefully things will change back now.

I was there on Friday, and Maria was definitely there.
    So...she is there temporarily?
    It seemed rude to ask.

I certainly love that place and was glad to feel none of the changes I had been anticipating.

    HI,

It has been a long time since I was last at Maria's Bakery.

While Maria is no longer there, she provides the cakes. The Italian bread is from her husband's bakery Il Mulino. The cookies are from Lauretta's in Mundelein, whose Father owns and runs Maria's Bakery.

My Italian sub today was really quite good.

Any issues I had was unrelated to food. If and when I go there again, it will be for take-out. To go any further, I will remind you of a yelp review.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Cathy, it is unfair to keep us hanging, besides, some people like yelp. I havent been there in a couple of years but was thinking about going back.......maybe not now, unless I get it to go.

If you insist, though it is more service or personality related than food.

If it was the older guy that was there a couple of years ago, I am not surprised. The couple of times I dealt with him he seemed moody.....either very friendly or very unfriendly.
