Unless you are a VIP with a retailer, you have no chance. No bottles will hit a shelf unless they are marked up to crazy prices.

Yeah no chance of picking up bottles anywhere. I've found 1 and 2oz pours at "reasonable" prices and even that is a difficult task.

I consider myself lucky getting my mitts on a bottle of btac Stagg his year. In terms of Pappy, zero chance unless you're willing to pay through the nose.

I know it's not a place to buy a full bottle, but has anybody been to Mordecai across from Wrigley Field? They have 22 bottles of Pappy on their menu including 6 bottles of the 15 year from 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. They also have 4 bottles from various years of the 23 year.

Longman and Eagle in Logan Square also has a 15, 20, and 23 year.

Last time I was there, the selection was impressive, but the prices were absolutely out of control. Weller 12 was something like $35 for a pour...don't quote me but it was something so astoundingly high that I didn't even consider buying any.

Beer Temple tends to have a smaller but still pretty good selection - almost always Weller 12 and Weller Antique, as well as BTAC bottles, sometimes some Pappy, sometimes some other heavily allocated stuff, and all at super reasonable prices...or at least what can be considered reasonable by today's standards. Like Weller 12 for $10. Pappy 15 for $15...that sort of pricing. But because they have so little in the way of liquor, they don't always have a great selection of stuff...luck of the draw when you walk in!

Mordecai is offensive in terms of pricing. There are some gems around though. Longman isnt terrible, Big Star on Damen usually has a pretty great selection and decent prices.

Admittedly I am a cheap date when it comes to bourbon. I have nice pours for company but I typically drink bourbon as highballs or whisky sours with near- bottom shelf selections myself. I spend extra for decent ginger ale and ginger beer. I was at my local Jewel and I saw on the clearance rack they were selling regular Four Roses 750 ml for $4.99. I bought the last 3 bottles. Mistake or score?

Four roses is a damn good bourbon to use with mixers. For 4.99, I'd buy every single one too

I'm currently sitting at the bar at The Next Whiskey Bar in Lisle, IL.
I did not find any BenRiach on its menu.
Its feature flight today is

There are five pages of various whiskeys listed. I believe I shall select some of the metropolitan distilleries' whiskies. What other drams that you can think of should I select? {1½ oz. pours}
