Stopped into this place when I spotted it behind the Top Dog hot dog stand. Went in to check it out and take some pictures. The owner couldn't have been nicer; offering samples of what he's got on offer. What I tried was very good. Decided to get a little of the tasty red wine-containing sausage (can't remember the name). I wanted to get more, but didn't really have much storage since I was camping in the area. Ended up getting the sausage gratis, but I definitely plan to be back to try the good looking wieners and brats.

I was up in this area on Saturday checking out some spots with a friend, glad we got into Lange's as one of our stops, made the trip.

My type of shop. We got there about 5:00 p.m., the son(i think) was working behind the counter, pete, the owner was holding court sitting in a chair by the door. Certain jobs its a necessity to be a people person, a butcher requires this skill, if you dont have it you wont last.

I love running into butchers who care about what they sell, and as importantly what your cooking needs are. Pretty common in the places I seek out in small town America and Pete and his staff were great, offering up many samples of their fantastic products. Beef, teryaki, turkey,& pork jerky & a ground sirloin loaf.

as you can see the cat behind the counter was alot of fun, and the owner just as cool. Inviting us back to check out how they make sausage and give them a hand. Definitely going back to take them up on that.

Here is a closer pic of that smoked beef:

Solid spot, some of the best smoked meats I have eaten this year.

Stopped in here yesterday and had a great time. Pete, the owner, wasted no time giving us samples of everything, including some Yuengling to cleanse our palates between bites. Favorites were landjager and apple jerky. Landjager smoked to perfection and apple jerky you could taste the apple juice and blended perfectly with the other spices. He threw in a couple of snack sticks for the road and gave us directions for avoiding Sunday night traffic back to the city. (US-20, which we knew about, but nice he gave us some local tips!)
