Recently had a lovely prosciutto & cheese plate: soft goat, cheddar, and a triple creme garnished with home-made peach preserves and candied nuts at
The Avenue Pub,
1732 St. Charles Ave. (at Polymnia St. 1 block down from the
Euterpe streetcar stop), known for its extensive beer list on its first floor (over 50 taps) and its extensive bourbon list on its second floor (I sampled a fine 91 proof Four Roses private barrel).
I believe they have some pretty good sandwiches and vegan offerings as well. They tout their consulting chef as coming from Boucherie. However, we could only manage the aforementioned charcuterie plate snack there at the very late end of a very full day...but not their notorious "Dump Truck Fries"--fries with with bechamel & lemongrass pulled pork!
And they are open 24 hours, 7 days a week!!!
