Wonderful restaurant in the Columbus Hotel near the Vatican. As you approach St Peters Square, maybe a block and a half away on the left is a non-metallic gold archway. Once you go in you will say"why did she send me here". Stop at the registration desk and ask how to get to the outdoor garden restaurant and pick up a brochure on the hotel which gives the history of this illustrious building. As you walk through the hotel you will come to the inside restaurant, which is gorgeous with two story vaulted ceilings, frescoes and so much historical atmosphere it takes your breath away. Eat here in the cold weather but if the weather is nice continue to the interior garden. What a haven from all the noise of Rome. The beautiful garden has beautiful trees and rose gardens. A very peaceful, restful setting after you have been sightseeing at the Vatican.
We had pasta with a creamy brocolini sauce cooked al dente and a tomato and fresh mozarella salad. The menu is quite extensive and there are specials of the day. Our lunch was the daily special.
This is a special place. One not to miss when you are in Rome[/b]
