Before you post a recipe, please understand the following about what use of copyrighted material we can and cannot allow.

A list of ingredients is not copyrightable. But a specific way of making or describing something is. What that means is:

    1. Direct quotation of a copyrighted recipe including the instructions is not permitted.

    2. Original recipes, even if they draw on techniques and ingredients you read in other recipes, are fine.
When they do draw significantly on a published recipe, please acknowledge the source in your text in some way, as well as noting how you altered it. (This is of course interesting to the general reader, not just for legal reasons.)

    3. The gray area lies in between-- recipes whose ingredients closely resemble those of a published recipe, followed by your original description of how you made it and how it tasted. This will always be a judgement call and we may feel the need to remove recipes when they cross what we see the line to be.

Generally speaking, if you're going to post a recipe, it should at least be partly original in some way. If you simply want to cite a published recipe, link to it, cite the cookbook with name and page number, or describe it in general terms, not as a complete recipe.
