    Hi Ramon,

The pattern is faux burlwood. IF you google burlwood, then click on images you can see various patterns.

Snark, you are added. Bruce is a tentative, as are you, Nelson.

By the way, Ramon, you never fail to entertain! As for me, I think I see a bunch of turtles in there. . .

(edited twice to reflect head count as of monday pm.)

I have given Burt and Sharon a rough head count of 12, but I want to put this event out there again for anyone whose schedule may have opened up for Wednesday Night, All Saint's Day. Last minute "deciders" are encouraged to post here. Do not let the costume thing deter you. There will be enough saints there that the presence of a few sinners will not upset the space-time continuum!

Please plan to arrive as close to 7 PM as you can manage. I have pre-ordered salad and two pizzas (1 vegetarian and 1 meat) at Burt's request. We can add to this order as we like. Just a reminder -- Burt is cool with adding toppings that patrons bring if he doesn't normally stock them. Anchovy fans must BYOA.

At last count, we have the following individuals on board. We will miss Gary and Ellen, who have another committment but may be able to straggle in if we go late enough.

    Confirmed n=13
    Cathy2 - 1
    nr706 - 1
    Giovanna - 1
    fastfoodsnob - 1

    Tentative n=3
    magpie 1140 - 1

I suspect that it does, Gary, but if you are serious I should probably clear that with Burt. Perhaps homaro cantu would like to join us to see what Burt can do with raccoon. . .

    HI,

I'm sorry to disappoint. I gave all my raccoon at the LTHforum picnic. I won't be restocked until the last Saturday in January.

    My regrets!

OK.. barring something comming up at work that I can't predict, I'm all in. Just as an estimate, what would a good time be to leave from the Ukranian Village to get to Burt's at 7. I don't find myself on 94 all that much to have a good handle on how traffic is at that time.

p.s. I should have some of Jamieson22's pastrami to bring... I don't think I can eat all of the 2.5 lbs I have remaining and we didn't vacuum seal this batch so I'm just going to bring some in ziplocks.

We will be 15 at tonight's count. Please let me know tomorrow morning if you have not yet signed on but would like to join us. We will miss those who dropped out, including Snark and gp60004, however, we hope they will get a chance to visit Burt's at some point if they have not yet had the pleasure of doing so.

Stagger-- you asked about traffic on 94 and timing. Seems like lately 94 has been packed at all hours, but an alternative, stevez-approved route noted earlier in this thread is as follows:

Take N. Lehigh Ave. north along the west side of the Soo Line tracks. It goes through a mostly industrial area that is eerily scenic and deserted at night (as befits the holiday). N. Lehigh begins at Devon 1 block west of North Central in Edgebrook. (Getting up to Devon is the piece I can't help with, unfortunately.)

Josephine, the Hays family will be coming costumed as the holier-than-thou in jeans and sweaters. My brother's in town again, hopefully he can come as well (if eatchicago hasn't snatched him off to a more upscale dinner)

So put us in for 3 or maybe 4, but we'll be leaving early as 7pm is Sparky's bedtime (not that we've followed it the past few nights anyway)

My brother has confirmed - we're in for 4. Wish I had an interesting pizza ingredient to bring...

Had a fine time at Burt's last night, as I was able to join the group due to some last minute availability.

In addition to Burt's and Sharon's fine wares, we also had a chance to sample some distinctive homebrews from nr706, plus (via Stagger) a taste of Jamieson22's smokey pastrami...all great stuff!

Many thanks to Josephine, costumed as "St. Muffy" (the Immaculately Preppy) that evening, for her organizational efforts.

All who attended the dinner at Burt's Place were greeted by the sign in Burt's window that read: "Happy Halloween to All Our Pagan Friends" After a little soul-searching I have concluded that works of art such as Burt's pan pizza and expressions of generosity such as the ones that he and Sharon offered the assembled LTH group do indeed rise to the level of devotional acts, pagan or otherwise.

In any case, the spirit of LTH was present for our All Saints Day gathering. Saint Hortense Weber of the Smokey Mountain (Cathy2). nr706 of home-brew fame, and Stagger-cum-pastrami added to the festive atmosphere. But perhaps the most uplifting aspect of this event was that so may new faces were present in the crowd, among them Mhays and family, and edc. I continue to be amazed at how easily an evening gels with many present who have never previously attended an LTH event. Some, including jlawrence01, and magpie attend infrequently, but keep returning nevertheless. This is all the more interesting since a stereotype of people who connect through the internet is that we are social misfits who need the distance of the computer to relate to others. (Believe it or not, I have seen this charge leveled in anger on this very forum.) The delight present at Burt's on Wedenesday evening was unmistakable, as was the paradoxical lightness, deep char, and outstanding sausage of Burt's pan pizza.

Burt and Sharon are both saints in my book, and their history-filled restaurant a little piece of heaven, Chicago style. Many thanks to them and all who attended. As St. Muffy of Nantucket would say, it was "just divine!"
