Here is the recipe we used for the shortbread: https://www.girlversusdough.com/chocolate-orange-shortbread-cookies/print/9475/

Lauren uses unsalted butter and adds salt to taste, also doubles the amount of orange as per Paul Hollywood's recommendation to make fruit flavored pastry taste like fruit.

    Hi all,

The desserts look great! I hope it was fun.

I'm curious, from a tech point of view, how things went. What app did you use? Were there any noticeable issues or impediments?

    Thanks,

    =R=

I do not think that is true. The Free Zoom accounts have a time limit. Those of us with upgraded paid for accounts have a few more bells and whistles and extended time. @LauraS has an account with a longer time limit so we should be good today.

Well, I was on a meeting hosted by a free account and at 40 minutes a notice came up that Zoom was giving us more time. We went 1.5 hours.

    Joan,

Once you have the URL from flickr -- which must contain no spaces and end in .jpg for it to correctly display here -- you then post it here, as such, for it to display . . .

    Code: Select all

That should do it. If that doesn't work, please let me know. Worst case, you can email me the picture and I'll send you back a url that you can put in your post.

    Thanks,

    =R=

thanks, this was a mistake- i'm too busy right now to try to solve this. i'm making face masks and i need to get a dozen done before our online meeting. i may ask for your help another time....

    You don’t need Flickr.

Underneath “Submit Post” there is the words “Attach Images”. Click that.

We used Zoom. LauraS offered her account so she had to sign-on as host. When she left she had to leave it open for folks to continue.

We had at one point 15 folks and we had 2 first-timers and a few infrequent visitors who made it and that was especially lovely.

I think many of the veterans were so excited to see each other that it may not have been particularly welcoming for new and/or infrequent visitors but I checked in afterward with many of those folks and they all seemed to understand.

I hope, assuming it is done again, they will all come back.

I heard a suggestion of limiting the # of participants but I earnestly didn't think that was a problem.

Techwise, the biggest issue was JustineCase16 had the best digital backdrop and didn't share how she made that happen.

And I did not grab a screenshot for posterity.

Thanks, for the recap. I've used MS Teams, Skype, Zoom and GoToMeeting for video conferencing. I find them all ok but each having some flaws. However, they are a lovely convenience these days. Glad it was a nice time!

    https://www.177milkstreet.com/recipes/s ... olate-cake

this chocolate steamed cake had an amazingly spongy and moist texture, really unlike any other cake i've ever tasted. it also was a little too plain, even for me, who isnt big on frostings: i'd suggest whipped cream, a drizzle of ganache, or ice cream on the side. the only changes i made were to sub in orange juice for the 1/2 cup of water; and i added a dozen finely diced very moist prunes. you can see the picture with the recipe...

mollyanne is a dear friend of mine. She was making food deliveries to her family yesterday and I got placed on the route for contactless Mahogany Cake that she made for the 87th, and Inaugural Virtual,Dessert Exchange/Meetup.

Many of you know I am not a fan of chocolate. This is a glorious cake. Even now it is moist and has a hint of almond.

I would make this for any lover of chocolate or cake.

She sent two for my household. I am uncertain if the other member of the household is going to get their slice.
