Wow. Guess it was just a matter of time. Have regularly attended many rubber chicken events there.

During the last 15 years, I've trained and opened 400 hot dog stands throughout the United States. 50% of them are still operating. I have yet to train one person to open a deli.

Andy Kalish seems to have figured out a way to keep the deli relevant:

Healthy food choices are the direction to go these days and healthy, tasty deli are the combo for Andy's success.

I have been to a dozen delis in the past four years in various Western cities and New York City. It is not particularly the type of cuisine that I like but I still go.

In general, I find the portions to be ridiculously large and for those places that care about the quality of the meat, very expensive. I do not like to drop $20 on a lunch even if provides me with a couple of meals.

There are so many healthier and less expensive options out there.

You can still get a decent size, good corned beef sandwich for under $10 at Moon's or the Vienna Beef factory store. The Vienna Beef store offers pastrami and salami sandwiches.

While I like Moon's, Vienna Corned Beef straight out of the bag and then doused w/gravy... is not deli.
