To be fair, there are some places where people probably pay extra for that.

The above quote comes from her memoir and apparently refers to people who have the temerity to post that they "weren't blown away" by her food. Now if that's the kind of unhinged invective Yelp traffics in, then I want no part of it!

I continue to use Yelp frequently, but only about 1% for the reviews. It's such a quick way to find a restaurant's phone number, location, hours, BYOB-ness or not, valet parking or not, etc. I know of no other way that comes close.

As for the 1% of me that cares about the reviews, occasionally I'll look just to see if the negatives or positives happen to line up with the things I care about. If someone says "the guacamole was to die for" it means nothing to me, because I have no idea who this person is. But if someone says "we had a reservation and they made us wait 45 minutes," it may influence me, because I hate when that happens, and the information is not subjective.

The other 99% of the time I don't scroll down far enough to see the reviews.

Of course its subjective. If you think some butterfly y*lper starts a timer on their iPhone to accurately post wait times well then . . .

6-minutes with free (not mentioned) apps for the inconvenience seems like 45 when the Adderall kicks in.

I’m still actively avoiding Yelp. I wish there was a way to exclude them from searches.

I like the pictures in yelp reviews. Picture is worth a thousand words as they say.
