I am traveling from Delavan WI. I will be about 20 minutes late. If you want to order for me I will do half fried chicken dinner with mashed that includes the salad bar!

    HI,

I offered my thoughts on Harner's here.

Food Nut, I hope you will fill in the details on the dinner roll/biscuit in the bread basket.

Nr705, MoetChandon and I reviewed our calendars to settle on April 28th probably around 5 pm.

It really was nice to see everyone today.

    Regards,

I felt like I missed saying goodbye to a lot of people! I turned around and you were gone. It was lovely to see some folks I haven't seen in—a year?

Yesterday, I cracked into pork four ways:

My absolute favorite variation: Pork in bacon milk gravy over polenta

Seconded by: Sauteed pork in Carolina mustard BBQ sauce over brown rice

Third and still delicious: Pork in tomato vegetable stew over noodles

Fourth was sauteed pork in aglio e olio over sauteed potatoes --- the other three were so good, this simply paled by comparison. By itself, it probably would have been just fine.

    Thank you for your creativity!

Anyone? I loved Harner's-- it scratched so many itches. I also can be convinced to go to White Fence Farm or Vito and Nick's, Chinatown, Potsticker house. :)

I'm going through old kitchen tools. Might be fun to come to dinner with some you love and share....

For several months, we have wanted to go to a restaurant in Niles that has yet to open.

If you want to take the lead for January, I think that would be fine. We have found meeting on Sundays is more convenient. You might want to send a PM to Nr706 and I about dates, then post away!

Super Bowl Sunday has been a great time to meet, too.

I have been keeping a close eye on said restaurant in Niles for the past year. They are certainly taking their time opening, since the original stated opening date is almost a year ago.

They seem to be in a decorating phase right now. I drive down that part of Dempster frequently and will post the minute I see any possibility of actually *eating* there.

I called the Bridgeview location this morning; they said it will open "early next month." I think this was from the same person who told me, a few months ago, it would open in early November.

Is there a reason one's mentioning the name of the restaurant?

    No reason. It's Al Bawadi.

Yes, I figured but I didn't want to spill the beans, in case there was a reason you all were holding back.
