Thinking of going. Reviews on open table and yelp seem to be mixed. Wondering if anyone has been there yet?

Is this in the old Tilly's location? I would be interested in checking it out just to see what they've done with the space. If nothing else, it seems like a pretty unusual concept. From what I saw, the comments on Yelp seem mixed but there are quite a few positive reviews.

Pretty sure they tore down the newish building Tilly's was in and built a whole new building..now sure why, I'd guess it had something to do with loans/financing
I love comfortable food, and comfortable restaurants.

Any LTHers end up here yet? Thinking of going for a quick early dinner tomorrow but could be warned off by you all, or have my enthusiasm fanned.

We've been to the other restaurant that shares the space (Stella Barra Pizzeria) and thought it was pretty good, haven't been to Summer House yet but were planning on going in a few weeks. And yes, they did tear down Tilly's and put up a new building.

I've been to Summer House for brunch and had a good time. The food was wonderful. The service needed a lot of training. But the food and space were very good. The reviews for dinner have been far more critical so I haven't been back for din din.

Brunch at Summer House is great. You won't find anything very creative on the menu, but what's on there is very tasty.
The baked items available at the coffee/bakery counter at the entrance are a mixed bag for me. They are above average.
Dinner is decent but nothing spectacular, which is how I feel about Paris Club. I find some of the food items to be overpriced e.g., $25 for fish tacos. The first time I went there, the service was a complete disaster, but everyone meant well, was overly apologetic, comped our meal and drinks and gave us ~$50 in gift cards to come back, which we've mostly used at brunch =D

What they got right is the design and decor of the place. You step in the main dining area and are immediately transported out of Chicago. It's a large and therefore noisy space, but sitting in the main dining room under the big glass ceiling is fantastic, in my opinion.

What really strikes me as strange is that in Chicago, a town where people tend to under-dress for the occasion, people get too put-together for Summer House.

Our group enjoyed it last night. I must single out for special mention the biscuits!

I was pleased to see the big room so full and bustling on a weekday night. I look forward to going back in the summer when the days are long, and the evening sun comes through that big greenhouse-conservatory roof.

Our first meal back at an actual restaurant was Summer House. They are combining menus with Stella Barra which was great! QR code menus on the tables, tables distanced and servers with gloves and masks. Experience was great and very comfortable. We went back the next night it was such a great atmosphere.
