I just opened my mailbox to find the latest copy of the Lerner newspaper. The "Food" section is dominated by an article by Hillary August titled, "Cyberfoodies Eat and Tell".

In it she does a very thorough job of covering the Chicago food blog scene including interviews with VI, myself, and Jes from f---corporategroceries. Jes also has the big, lead, color photo on the front of the section.

I'm not sure how you get a lerner paper without subscribing, and the article isn't online. I'll try and find out the best way to get copies and post it here.

Kudos to Hillary August and the rest of the staff at Lerner. I think they did a great job.

(Apologies to the moderators if this is not the right section for this post. I wasn't sure if anything else was more appropriate.)

My copy is "The Booster" which is the North Center/Avondale/Logan/Lakeview paper, but check the "Skyline" anyway since I believe they only publish one food section for all of their editions. It is likely the same.

    EatChicago,

There are Lerner newspaper boxes throughout the city, for example there is one at the corner of Diversey and Sheridan.

Lerner has a map of their coverage area up, though I can't seem to find specific distribution box locations.

I plan on picking up a Lerner paper today, looking forward to reading the article.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

Thanks Gary, I knew there were Lerner boxes around but I couldn't think of a specific location (and it's not on their site as you said). I've been a life-long subscriber, growing up in the old "Nortown News" zone.

The article is in the Skyline. We get them free in the building I live in. Many times they are also in the lobby where I work.

The Skyline can be picked up free in the loop... it's delivered free to some buildings in its coverage area. The other papers, which have a somewhat higher news content, are not free, but are available in their neighborhoods. The Lerner web site has some details about newsbox locations and other outlets.

The food section is approximately the same in all of the editions each week, subject to space availability.

The Food Editor, who assigned her intern to do the blog story, reads this discussion. She used to post regularly, but might be cutting back, after a conversation she had about her professional standing.

Some Lerner content is available online, usually posted well after the newspapers appear. The blog story isn't online, at least not yet. Buy a newspaper... better yet, subscribe.

Actually, they're on the Lerner website under Circulation.... or exactly here.

I need to get a copy, I haven't seen the article yet. I shudder to think of my picture as the lead; being photographed is something I was never comfortable with. Anyone know where I can pick one up in the Logan Square area?

The Lerner site says there's a box at Addison & Kimball. If you can't get to it, I made photocopies and I'd happily drop one in the mail to you.

Your picture is HUGE :) (and very flattering, don't worry)

Can we have this scanned in by someone possibly, or does that breach some sort of copyright law?

For shame! Of course it breaches the copyright law.

    You should know better!

Buy a newspaper if you want to read it.

Scanning and posting is clearly a big no-no.

And, yes it is technically a breach to make copies, but I did make them for personal use from my purchased copy. I was only offering a copy to j3s if she was unable to obtain a copy. Since she's featured so prominently, she shouldn't miss it. This maybe against the letter of the law but certainly not the spirit.

I strongly encourage everyone to support Lerner news and buy a copy.
