More Lilly gilding from Old Fashioned Donuts, Apple Fritter with pecans. Good size quality pecans added crunchy counterpoint, impossible to resist trying, but an OFD apple fritter is pretty much perfect as is.G Wiv wrote:A Chocolate dipped Old Fashioned Donuts Apple Fritter may be gilding the Lilly, but fresh dipped and torn in rough crisp edged hunks still warm from the fryer makes for one delicious Lilly.

The even more analytical among us will know the exact weight too. Since my first visit over seven years ago, I've been curious how much those babies weigh and finally had a chance to put a fritter on the ol' Ohaus balance. A randomly selected specimen (with pecans) tipped the scales at 593.8 grams or about one pound, five ounces. Fritters are now $2.29 (plain, without pecans), still surely one of the best confection values in Chicago.

Is that the Doughnut Vault's fritter?
JimTheBeerGuy wrote:No, sorry if that was unclear. That was an Old Fashioned Donuts fritter that I brought downtown with me to taunt people at Doughnut Vault. Only there was nobody outside in line to taunt so I just took some pictures and then brought the fritter to my office to share.

I do think that this place should get more traffic.
