I have no idea, at first I was just taking a picture of the old marquee, and then noticed the film titles afterward.

This theater is in Iowa City, perhaps it is an independant/college film.

It's a one-guy musical act by Ben Chasny. He'll be at the Empty Bottle at the end of this month.

Just back today from an eminently forgettable trip to Shenzhen. Just didn't get a chance to venture out much and what little I did was altogether ordinary tasting. Most food was confined to the conference - and ordinary.

What respite I got from the situation, I derived from the signage:

I've been passing by Pars Cove on Diversey near Sheridan for decades, but only today noticed what their nicely-art-directed electrically-lit permanent hanging sign says: Causal Intimate Dining.

I'm trying to work out what that means.

Would love to see this sign when it is lit up, thankfully as they are not closing I might get that chance(i didnt see many photos of the sign on here when I did a search,so I just want to share these I took yesterday, I cant wait to try the sausage)).

from left to right, the happy pigs(they are smiling if you look close) light up and "jump" into the grinder:

My new resolution is to take our lesser digital camera and keep it in the car for moments like this.
Kaufman's has a sign on their doors warning customers not to park in the pawn shop's lot. Inside the store, however, the sign reads a little differently:

PLEASE do not park in the pawn shop lot! The owner is being an ass and he will tow your car!

spied this sign a couple weeks ago, "worlds largest ham sandwich" claim caught my eye. googled it when I got home and there is a Youtube video of the sandwich done by the PJ Star a couple years ago. Heard they might be out of business looked open last saturday, going to head back to verify as I went by yesterday before what would have been there hours of operation.

Looking up the address I see that Troy Grove is the location of the Wild Bill Hickok memorial, marking his birthplace, going to check that out.

Also read about a ham sandwich at a spot down in El Paso, IL.

    "Blended with imported Bonafide Hops"

This awesome almost fully intact beer mural greeted me upon entering Tacos Burritos Rancho Grande in Lansing. At first glance it looks as though it's something someone recently painted but turns out this was uncovered during a rehab project on the building a few years back. It's in pretty much perfect shape because the current building in which it sits wasn't a attached to the liquor store (Phone Number #805) that the ad was painted onto circa 1949. It was built a few years later so the mural held up well. Here's some info the Peter Fox Brewing Company and then here is a roundup of old Fox Deluxe ghost signs from around the city.
