I brought my unplanted plants into my screen porch. Two pots of herbs that were already planted i pushed against the house hoping they would survive.

It seems late in the year to see frost warnings. I think they are mostly for the western burbs.

May 15 is considered the traditional last frost date. Everything else is out of whack the last few seasons so expect anything.

I brought my newly-repotted "Red Rubin" basil in over the weekend. I swear, if a plant was capable of giving its owner the stink-eye, I got it.

It perked up by yesterday morning, thank heavens, and seems back to normal now, but will stay in the living-room window til this weekend!

I don't think it got close to freezing in the city last night - I have some watermelon and cucumber plants that just came up in the garden and they made it through last night without any signs of problems.
