    this critter seems to be fond of my parsely and celery (not surprising as they are in the same family). Anyone know what it is and how I can get rid of it ?

    It looks a lot like a firefly, but I thought most of them ate other insects.

    Maybe a relative?

    I agree it looks like a firefly; Are you sure it's eating your celery and parsley?

    I think you're right .... I guess I assumed it was eating it as something appears to be doing a little damage and this was the only critter I've seen crawling around on them.

    I'd agree with above - but more than likely it's there eating the critter causing the damage. Can you take a picture of the damaged part? Leafminers, which leave little white tracks in the leaves, are a common pest here (they have a field day with my columbines.) Other pests for celery and parsley are listed here.
