I have a deck located on the west side of my condo. Unfortunately, due to the location (first floor) and surrounding buildings, it only gets sunlight about 2-3 hours a day (at most, I think I'm being generous here).

Are there any foods that I can plant that don't require much sunlight? As a gardening novice, I have no idea where to start!

You can plant root vegetables. And onions, garlic.

Also, on the bright side (pun intended) there are lots of flowers that grow in the shade. Impatiens, for one.
I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

Look for things that are listed as "winter crops," often those are more shade-tolerant. I have a shady spot in my backyard, and I've been very successful with root veg, as Liz mentioned, along with Swiss Chard, Kohlrabi, and lettuces. It probably gets a bit more sun than your spot, though...

Most root vegetables other than alliums have long tap roots and so do not take kindly to planter boxes.
