It took a lot of research and planning to find out about the place. I spent several hours on the internet in research.
When I got to Las Cruces, I found an address. However, I had to find a visitor center for NMSU. They sent me to the Campus Parking Service to get a visitor pass. Then, they directed me to the right building ... but the wrong floor. We are wondering around the 3rd floor until a couple of graduate assistants directed us to the 2nd floor.
When we arrived, the visitor center was manned by two young ladies - a theatre major and an engineering major. Unbelievably, they were pretty knowledgeable. The director came in later.
It was well worth the effort.
When traveling, always research LOCAL universities as they occasionally have some great museums .... even if some of them look like tehy have not been updated for 50+ years.
Going to Las Cruces and not experiencing pecans and peppers (and cotton) would be like going to Napa and not checking out the wine.
