Gust could be up to 40 mph-- you may want to harvest anything fragile in the garden

you aren't kidding--My ginormous basil pot that (I thought) was wind-blocked by other pots just toppled off the small table it sits on (it easily ways 20 lbs). Just took everything down to ground level.

My basil "tree" was unscathed thankfully.

I had to do a little repair to my espaliered tomato plants, but no big damage to any of the five plants; my gigantic Caribbean Red chile plant did partially tip over, but no apparent harm was done, as the plant stayed in its stand. The only casualty appears to be a very odd one: a large branch of a big trailing lime-scented geranium up on the deck blew right off the plant! The plant itself appears to be OK, though - and the branch is now in a vase of hormone-enhanced water for rooting purposes. Guess I should have been more attentive to occasional pruning.

Oh, well. Just another day in the Midwestern garden. :)
