Tippling at Bhabi’s Kitchen by Zinny Fandel
Oooh! I’m already in love with this column.
Just this morning, as I tried to follow the link to Misty Tosh’s Best of 2005 from another thread, I wound up “discovering”
this column. If you get to the Centerstage website and click on “food” the first articles that pop up are from Zinny Fandel’s column Best When Drunk.. —BTW, *bump* to Misty for being cool with the jibes about her article.
Good stuff here, o.k. not great, but I see huge possibilities in area far too often neglected. Zinny- yeah, you have to get past the kitschy handle- is not writing about a bottle of Yellowtail Mer-raz and [
insert favorite unlicensed neighborhood ethnic joint here]. Look at the article above, perhaps a misguided pairing, but a fun adventure much like any of us have had.
I didn’t seem to have the same experience at Bhabi’s as she did (or several other LTH’ers), but Skouras Viognier, good choice. I believe it was a Skouras Viognier that is available on the rooftop Pegasus appetizer and wine list. A new Match-dot-com date, a bottle of Skouras Viognier, some Greek house band music and a view of the City skyline…next thing you know, Bob’s your uncle.
Unchain your lunch money!
