Well, they claim to have the best beer selection on the northwest side and i think they might be right. This place looks like it might be one of those scary neighbourhood bars that just sell crap beer by the bottle but that couldn't be further from the truth. Well actually the scary bar bit might be a bit true but who cares after a few great beers :D ! Seriously if your in Jeff Park this place is definetly worth going for a beer. They had multiple great beers on tap including three floyds and half acre. Prices are more than reasonable, 4 bucks or so, & bar staff very friendly- they also came round with bowls of freshly poured snacks. On Thursdays they will be hosting food trucks and tapping a few beers.

Fischman's may well become the craft beer centerpiece for the northwest side of Chicago. I managed to get myself there for its "Kegs for Kidneys" beer festival one Friday evening. Here are two photographs I took that evening.

It posts its prices on Beermenus also, for both the bar and the package store. :o
    I won't be explicit, but its wi-fi password is a craftbeer. 8)

Gotta give some love to Fischmans. I know the bar itself is in need of some updating, but they are expanding into the store next door and will have a kitchen and serve food sometime in October. I really want to applaud them for helping Put some life into Jefferson Park. They have Food truck Thursdays (every other) and have a serious craft beer selection at the store and at the bar.

It's not new or trendy as some other places, but they are really trying, and that gets my vote.
It's definitely a blue collar crowd...

More people should come out for food truck nights and make it a thing. I really hope their hard work and effort pulling in trucks pays off, and their new kitchen brings things up a notch.

It really is a nice breath of fresh air in Jefferson Park... And yes, I'm writing this after a night of food and drinking.

Fischman's Liquors will reopen next year in the Portage Theater building at Six Corners, the owners of the much-mourned community hub and craft beer emporium announced Saturday.

Fischman moved from Jefferson Park to Portage Park in November with only the liquor store portion open for the last eight months. The bar side opens today as Fischman Public House at 4056-60 N. Milwaukee Avenue.

Cool space, nice people. I had a sneak peak at the in-progress bar when I bought a bottle of bourbon at the smallish but well stocked liquor store. Location is a couple of doors North of both Frunchroom and Community Tavern.

Fischman's near Six Corners closes, blames failure in part on slow pace of area re-development. As an area resident I get their frustration... but betting the house (literally in their case) on prospective development in a Red Tape Hell like Chicago seems a little imprudent.
