Have a beverage (board)!

The Something to Drink board was created with the hope of raising the level of discussion of beverages of all sorts on LTHForum. We’ve had some great posts and threads on drinks in our 2+ years, but we feel like we’ve left a lot on the table.

We know there are scores of wine geeks, hopheads, java lovers, soda jerks, milk duds and all sorts of other bad puns out there who dive right into our vibrant culinary chat but, cannily or not, hold back from sharing their liquid interests and expertise. We’d like that to change.

Our hope is that the Something to Drink board provides a home for these posts that might have otherwise remained unwritten, and to shine the spotlight a little more brightly on the enjoyment of the things we drink with our food. Or without.

One question that has come up on Site Chat: Is this board just about drinks, or the places we drink them?

Short answer: Both.

Longer answer: We imagine the Something to Drink board more as a spin-off of Shopping and Cooking than Eating Out in Chicagoland, mostly because there is a lot more variety among the food served in restaurants than among the drinks served in bars. But that’s not to say that a discussion of who draws the best Guinness or has the deepest tequila list or mixes the best Manhattan is at all out of place.

As other questions arise, please post them on the Site Chat board. Until then, we strongly encourage you to raise a glass, toast, and post.

We're going to take this occasion to make some minor modifications in some other boards, too, but that will be addressed in a separate post.
