If anyone needs tickets, in years past, you can go to the event on the day of, and there will be plenty of people outside selling them for face value. Last year, I think I was solicited no less than 2-3 times walking to the event.

Yeah, that's what we ended up doing last year. Not too worried about it, but it would be nice to have it taken care of.

First, I didn't get them "just to flip them". My husband and I are going to the Taste (for our 5th consecutive year) and hoped friends would be able to use the extra pair, but it's hard to get someone to commit to traveling up to Madison for the weekend during this busy time of the year.

But more to the point, if I was just looking to make a profit, I wouldn't bother driving up to Madison the first weekend of May, paying far more for a hotel room than I will ever make off the tickets and getting up at 5 a.m. to wait in line outdoors for 7 hours for the privilege of buying tickets that I *might* make a few bucks from on EBay.

    Thank you.

If you're so noble in your regard, then how about you offer them up here for face value, or face value + split the cost of your 'expensive' Madison hotel room.

The fact that you advertised your own ebay ticket sales on here just insinuates that you want to make a quick buck...and thats certainly not the intent of the folks who plan + host this event year after year. Selling the tickets for anything over face value goes against the event planners who want to make the tasting affordable to those who can ill afford to go, and it hurts those who truly do want to go and enjoy such an event at a reasonable cost.

Hey, I'm all for that. If you want to reimburse me for the face value of the tickets + 50% of my procurement costs, I will make more than I will from E-Bay, based on the bidding price at this moment.

The only reason I disclosed in my earlier posting that I am selling a pair is to be up front. If you want to turn it into more than that, that is your issue, not mine.

Another killer weekend in Madison. It started at noon or so on Friday at New Glarus where we got some of the last bottles of their latest R&D sour that were available for the day. After enjoying a pint and a brick oven pizza in the courtyard, we headed to Madison to start the pre-parties. Even arriving at the Bell's party at 1:30, we missed a couple of their special barrel aged offerings. Hit 5 or 6 different bars on Friday, and I think I enjoy Friday just as much as Saturday at this point.

I was able to secure one ticket at a pre-party on Friday, and another about 2 hours before the fest by walking the line that had already formed at the park (both for face, btw). Just enough time to get back to the hotel to clean up and grab some food at the farmer's market.

I had heard the night before that Perennial/Side Project would have their Blueberry Flanders in the Real Ale Tent so that was our first stop and it didn't disappoint. Set the bar extremely high for the rest of the day. I tried not to be glued to the timed tappings as much this year, and feel like I did a pretty good job by only hitting a few of them. Even if you do wait in line for them, the best part is exploring some of the lesser known breweries nearby while the folks you are with hold down your spot in line. Sweet Mullets was a brewery I had never heard of that had a lot of fun offerings including some sours...looking forward to seeing more of them. Thirsty Pagan is a brewery we discovered a couple years ago there that continues to fly under the radar with solid sour offerings (as well as other styles). I thought Kuhnhenn's take on Mardi Gras cocktails were fun, although most of them didn't quite hit the mark. We all thought the Gin Fizz was by far the best. We also spent more time at the Real Ale Tent this year than we ever have and that was well worth it. And those are only a few of the many many amazing beers we tried.

All in all, a great weekend. Extremely well organized festival that is well thought out. A great crowd of beer enthusiasts and a great time. It's an event that I hope to never miss.
