It's hard not to be tempted by porters when this time of year rolls around. I really enjoy the seasonality of beer.
The other night, Kate whipped up a nice batch of stew, a simple stew, some chunks of chuck, carrots and potatoes. It was delicious.
I cracked open Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter. The Taddy is a slightly tannic porter, but rich and hearty, and it balances nicely with the stew like a nice Languedoc might do. Really a tasty combination.
The current porter in my fridge is the Mocha Porter by Rogue in Oregon. I've been enjoying it quite a bit as well. In fact, I may need to make some more stew.
Cheers,
Aaron
