Many moons ago Saveur Magazine reviewed some "best value" Single Malt Scotches, and
Lismore was
one of their Top Picks. I used to buy it @ Sams (now Binny's) on Marcey Court.
Then I migrated over to The Balveinie 12 year old DoubleWood- and have stuck to that one as my
"go to" Single Malt Scotch. Now @ $50.00 a bottle- pouring a generous 2-3 "finger" pour for my guests, can make a
750ml bottle disappear rather quickly.........
so- I started thinking about a more "value-concious" Single Malt Scotch to keep on hand.
Recently The Trader Joe's stores in Chicago started selling Hard Liquor, and, I noticed my old friend Lismore was back
on the shelves
at Trader Joe's- for $17.95 a bottle!WOW!
I bought 2 !
After doing some research @ Binny's-
David-the-Guru-of-All-Things-Distilled told me a bit of the
backstory about Lismore.
How it's age - less under 10 years - & a rather indeterminate number- some speculate only 8 years young...and that a MAJOR distillery took over the Speyside Distillery- Glen-somebody...and are keeping an arms length relationship
between what they produce and market- versus Lismore.

get a bottle of Lismore to serve yourself and your Scotch drinkin buddies. Others have called it an "everyday" Single Malt-
and I for one- have no plans of adding it to my Trader Joe's Nuttin-But-The-Clumps Granola daily- but-
do plan on keeping it on hand for guests, myself- and for a few Holiday Gift packages (along w/ thin, blow glass drinking glasses from CB2!)
Salute!
