Todd & Holland Reopening March 1

Todd & Holland, the tea merchants, are in the process of moving from River Forest to a new location at 7311 Madison in Forest Park (much more convenient to the Eisenhower, and another reason to visit this growing Forest Park foodzone).

Walking by the new store, I noticed Bill Holland carrying in some merchandise, and he invited me in to see the new space. It's huge, and although it lacks some of the old-timey ambiance of the old store, it's going to allow them to show a lot more of their excellent product in a nice-looking earth-toned space. It's located almost across from the Brown Cow and conveniently down the street from the tea-friendly products of Kay's Bakery.

Are they only a retail business or also a tea house?

    hattyn,

Though they're a retail business, they serve tea throughout the business day: they usually have at least two teas available for unlimited tasting by whoever walks in the door, and Bill has always been eager to brew up a batch of anything you want to try.

Just a friendly reminder to all that Todd & Holland is going to open at their new location in Forest Park tomorrow. Can't wait. It looks great inside.

I walk by there all the time on the way to Circle Video. The place is massive -- I actually wonder what they will do with all of it (Bill Holland holds frequent tea tastings, so perhaps they'll have a tasting room).

I'm glad to see that they moved in the cool floor-to-ceiling (which now go not-quite to ceiling) wooden display cases. One signal advantage of the new place will be the parking; they seem to have their own lot.

Actually that lot belongs to the funeral parlor next door. Parking will still be an issue, at least until the Madison Street Commons project on the other side is done. Then parking will no longer be a problem, just impossible.

    icfan,

That's pretty amazing, that the new store wraps around a new parking lot that is not theirs. I'll have to check that out. I'd think that Madison Commons, a huge apartment complex, would not help the parking situation much.
