I'm a sucker for sodie pop variations, so while in a middle eastern grocer on Milwaukee in Niles (I forget the name), I spotted Cola Turka.

As colas go, it's pretty unassuming. Citrus dominates over the vanilla and brown spice (the only flavoring listed is citric acid and 'natural cola flavor', IIRC). For a canned soda, the fizz was moderate and no tinniness. Less sweet than some, it's a little better as a thirst quencher than the average cola.

I like it, but not enough to give up The Real Thing.

Their website's got a pretty kicky jingle in what I can only assume is Turkish, and a nice pic of the can to help you seek it out.

Thanks. It sounds like something that would be fun to sample. And I enjoyed the jingle and the sights from around Turkey -- the bread ring being torn apart at the beginning of the ad reminded me of buying those yummy, sesame-coated bread rings from the vendors who were in almost every square in Istanbul.

So -- have you tried the Inca Cola at the Mexican markets? I'm wondering what that is like.

It's been a couple of years since I've tried Inca Cola. I found it sickly-sweet, and kind of bubble-gummy. Not to my tastes, and didn't seem like a cola to me.

It seems to be the same company that produces the cola Amata and I had at the Turkish festival in the fall (different can design):

Nice -- Attatonius -- so Father of Tonius?

Thanks, Mustapha. Or perhaps Kamal is more appropriate.
