I am pleased to nominate Boston Fish Market for a 2014 GNR. Since it opened, the route from my house to Boston Fish Market has become a well worn trail for both the variety of fresh seafood (at some very nice prices) as well as the delicious meals prepared by Louis & his crew.

From funky fried clams, Greek style grilled fish, grilled octopus, to zuppa di pesci all while allowing BYOB.

    This place rules!
I don't get up that way enough, but I crave it just by mention of name alone.
I love indulging in perfectly fried and perfectly grilled seafood in the same sitting.
    GNR, yes!

Definitely a great nomination! When I need a ride to O'Hare, I bribe my family to drive me in exchange for me treating them to dinner at Boston Fish Market on the way. I have not had any problems securing rides for a while! Very much a win-win situation.

Yes, yes a thousand times yes. BFM has become my favorite restaurant. So much so that I find myself there more than I can reasonably afford.

I make up reasons to go to Des Plaines just so I can stop in for lunch.

Another vote for BFM. Almost everything I've been served there has been excellent. When my Dad and I went in and ordered that Zuppa di Pesci, they had to pull up a second table just to accommodate the giant platter that arrived. Oh yeah, beyond the insane quantity, it was outstanding seafood to boot!

The other half of the Des Plaines renaissance in casual dining! (See Rand Red Hots)

Great shrimp at a fraction of the commute to my other favorite, Captain Porky's....
Much better selection of fresh seafood than Des Plaines other fried fish place, Don's Dock....

But for me, the attraction is the fried perch. Sweet little fishies, delicately crisp.
    Absolutely, an GNR.

The Louis Salad (I think that's what they're calling it now) comprised of grilled/charred octopus atop the bounteous Greek salad is my favorite lunch in Chicagoland. And usually my dinner later that night as well. Love the fried clam strips that remind me of my favorite childhood meal at the Colonnade in Tampa. Delicious grilled fish, wonderful fried smelts and perch. Fantastic retail options as well. Love this place and happy to see this nomination! Thanks for both Sweet Willie!!!

I enthusiastically support this nomination! Definitely the best seafood in the city. Considering the low cost and huge portions, it's a no brainer GNR.

I was just about to say this one is a no brainer, but rather than be repetitive, let me say it should be a slam dunk. Took the family recently and every single dish was outstanding. We ordered from all over the menu and though at first I was somewhat surprised by the bill, when I saw the quality and quantity of the food, I was completely turned around and now think everything here is a real bargain. Seriously fresh or fried, you can't go wrong.

I couldn't have said it better, Matt.

I'd be hard pressed to think of another lunch spot to have opened up in recently memory that I'm more excited about.

Boston Fish market has elevated the bar.

Some of the finest fish to be had in Chicago. Little things like the crust for the fried perch, the tartar sauce, the first time I asked about grilling me up some octopus (it wasn't on the menu then) it was a non issue, and wonderful. A great GNR recommendation.

Living close enough to eat in or carry out in the twice a week range is a great thing in my life. Adding to the retail display case ambience is the pervading undercurrent...the glimpses of big honking plates of pristine fish, dilated eyes, silence, excited utterances and satiated groans. Minor quibbles are the occasional overdone and a need for more choices on the sides. I loudly shout Yea.

I have to vote no on this nomination because of the owners' complete and utter disregard for the notion of sustainable seafood. On the website there is a stated policy of a willingness to try to source any fish the customer wants. Apparently even the most endangered fish is fair game.
I will remain a customer of Dirk's and will avoid this place for this reason.
I'm sure that among LTHers I am a voice in the wilderness, but there are times when one must vote one's conscience.
