I find Moon's food to be pretty good, not really great, but it sure has a gritty charm. Seems to me it is a GNR that relies as much on character as food. Having said that, I am always warmly greeted and well taken care of, and that does make it a GNR. Plus I have never had a bad meal at Moon's.

    Allow me to quote me:

To my mind, Moon's has the best scrambled eggs in the city. The grill man has a gift! Moon's is literally a vanishing breed. At one time, there were 5 Moon's locations. This is the last one remaining. It's an anchor in a neighborhood that for so long has had little else to offer.

My feelings are still the same. During the short time they were closed last year, I missed scrambled eggs with cheese and grits at Moon's much more than I thought I would. GNR? Yes.

In a day when we're becoming inundated by "concept" burger, hot dog and sandwich shops, Moon's is real – real enough to ask the always pertinent, musical question: What is wrong with your Caucasian ass?

Moon’s deserves a lifetime, bullet-proof GNR renewal (though I must say, with higher-end condos sprouting up all around it, that lifetime may be threatened).

Corned beef, grits and over easy eggs for breakfast seems enough to support GNR renewal all by itself. Coupled with lively atmosphere, friendly staff, a talented grill man who is into astrology and hyper reasonable prices Moon's has my full support for GNR renewal.

Moon's Sandwich Shop, count me a fan!

    Enjoy,
