GNR Renewals 2014, Seeking Volunteers

The time has come again to begin the process of updating the list of Great Neighborhood Restaurants and Resources. New GNRs are awarded for a two year term at the end of which they are evaluated for renewal. Once a GNR is renewed, it is re-evaluated every two years.

During the past couple cycles, the GNR committee has initiated the renewal process by looking over the recent posts about the GNRs that were up for renewal to determine which restaurants/resources require further discussion. While this process highlighted places that hadn't been discussed recently, we didn't feel like it was effective at promoting thoughtful discussion.

With this in mind, we are eliminating the public GNR renewal discussion period. We will continue to encourage posts about GNRs by hosting GNR appreciation events throughout the year, and posting record will remain the primary criteria used in the GNR renewal process. To streamline the process yet maintain transparency, the GNR committee and additional volunteer evaluators (see below to volunteer) will conduct the ongoing review, both as scheduled and for closures or reconcepts as they arise.
