This summer I've eaten there several times with boudreaulicious and as we're in a community garden together with more produce than we need we've taken it in to Jonathan, who used the chard, kale, tomatoes, peppers and herbs to make us the best quesadillas I've had. He's also started to break down whole goats under the tutelage of one of Chicago's better butchers It's wonderful to see this restaurant thrive, but it's also nice to watch a very talented young man start on his career. On top of all this the family is putting out the best birrieria in the ciry. We're lucky to have them and they're what a GNR should be.
For what we choose is what we are. He should not miss this second opportunity to re-create himself with food. Jim Crace "The Devil's Larder"

I agree. The folks at BZ are always trying something new in addition to serving up the wonderfully delicious regular menu items.

Everyone I've brought here has adored the food--even goat skeptics. This is perhaps the Greatest Neighborhood Resto at the moment.

    Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes......

The people who work there are so welcoming and want so much to share their love of their food with you. I was completely charmed. I've brought my friends. But most importantly, there is so much deliciousness. As we used to say back home, "it's so good, it'll make ya want to slap your Granmaw."

BZ is probably my favorite restaurant to bring people to. Nearly every time I've been there, I've brought someone who was going for the first time. I like to watch the look on their face when they try anything. On the basis of this food voyeurism alone, I say renew - but then you factor in the kindness and engagement of the owners and the hecho a mano tortillas. Can we just Hall of Fame these guys already? :)

Another trip to Midway tomorrow, another place at the counter at Zaragoza beforehand. Invaluable food and people. One of these times it's just going to be a full molcajete of salsa and all the homemade quesadillas I need to get through it. A toasty golden R in a silky platter of GN consome.

Wonderful food, sweet people. Let me chime in along with the others to say that I go whenever I can find an excuse, and everyone I have brought has loved it.

It's been too long since I was last at Zaragoza but even a recent carry-out experience highlighted their excellence. Our birria was packed with notable care, in a way that provided for maximum quality at its destination (meat and consome packed separately, abundant portions of sauces and tortillas, etc.). The experience didn't quite match eating in the restaurant but it 95% of the way there, which was impressive in its own right. I enthusiastically support renewal.
