Tonight I made a dinner improvised from Food & Wine magazine (June '04). It was so good I thought I'd share. It's originally called Shrimp and Lemon Skewers with Feta-Dill Sauce, but I've improvised a bit. Well maybe a lot. Here is my revised version:

    For 2 people:
    1/4 cup plain (greek) yogurt
    3 minced garlic cloves
    Lots of chopped dill
    2/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
    1/4 cup olive oil
    Juice from about 2 lemons
4 Lamb steaks (I bought the cheapest cuts of lamb I could find, and these were it - 4$ for a pack of 2, and since I knew they'd need a lot of trimming, I figured 2 people would eat 4 of them total. Anyway, use what you like.)

Combine 2 of the minced garlic cloves with the olive oil, half the dill, and some lemon juice. Toss and then coat the lamb in it.

Combine the yogurt, remaining garlic, remaining dill, feta cheese, and some lemon juice. Mash it all up so that it's a bit spread-y.

Grill the lamb and serve the feta sauce with it.
We had some grilled lemons along side and also some fresh (raw) zucchini with the feta sauce, but only because I didn't have a cucumber, which is what I *really* would have wanted. Anyway, it was all quite good! Anyone who likes these Mediterranean flavors should try it. Very fresh, summery, and I'm still tasting the garlic

We also had a lovely bottle of Sangiovese ('02) which I am very happily sipping/finishing off right now.... Can you tell?
