I've been buying California garlic from from Village Market in Skokie lately. It's pretty good stuff, and the price is I believe somewhere between $2 to $3/lb.

At Jewel the other evening, they had garlic from Spain at 99 cents each.

I haven't tried it yet, I was simply surprised to see a new source.

I read, forget where, that the tariffs on Chinese goods has brought the price of Chinese garlic up, still cheaper than the US garlic, but it has made the US garlic more competitive now. I notice the garlic at Costco was a product of the US, at least for now, and here in Oregon.

Whole Foods has organic garlic from California for $3.95 a pound all the time, and that is where I get my garlic when I run out of garlic from the farmer's market. The majority of my garlic I get from either Henry Brockman or Nichols at the Evanston farmer's market. I got some garlic in bulk from Henry at the Thanksgiving market a week ago. I got 18 medium sized heads. I love Nichols Italian garlic, and they still had some last weekend, but it was 4/$10, but it was much larger heads. I also got some black garlic from Henry. Henry had lots of garlic left when he packed up his truck to go home. He thought for sure he would sell all of the garlic in the bulk sale. His sister tried to get me to buy some, but I told her that I already purchased lots of garlic in bulk, and I did not need any more.

There is going to be another farmer's market at Emmanuel Lutheran church in Evanston on 12/7, and Todd Nichols is going to be there, and I am sure they will have more garlic. Hope this helps, Nancy
