Dinner Near Cincinnati

I'm going to be passing through the Cincinnati area in a couple of days. Excluding someplace for chili (not interested), where would you go for a single dinner?

Any particular neighborhood? Senate is good food. The eateries at Findlay Market give an excellent foodie view of the city, like Pho Lang Thang, but they're only open until 6pm.

Over the Rhine is the big restaurant area there now. Boka and Sotto (114 E 6th st) would both fit the bill but there are a lot of new places near there too that I have not been to.

I'm actually staying across the river in Covington, but I'm just passing through on #southeastroadtrip18 with a car and nothing at all to do except spend the night before my final leg home (so far I'm posting on Instagram, but I plan a full report here once I get back). That means that I can go just about anywhere in the area in search of a good meal.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to swing by Findlay Market on my way out of town on Thursday.

The burnt carrot salad at Metropole, the restaurant at the 21C Hotel in Cincinnati, was one of the best things I have eaten in a long long time. Its made with Avocado, pickled onion, feta, cilantro, toasted pumpkin seeds and it was excellent!

The Golden Lamb in Lebanon, just outside of Cincinnati, is quite remarkable: oldest restaurant and hotel in Ohio (1803), plus fabulous farm-to-table food.

Definitely recommend for good food and remarkable ambiance -- plus a boat load of history.

It rarely eat out when I am in Cincinnati as my brother is a caterer of significant reputation and my 90 year old father can cook a very good meal. There is really no good reason to eat out.

However, I have seen to the Swampwater Grill a number of times as that is where my brother hold court on Thursday nights. The Cajun food is really good and the best that you will find in the Cincinnati area.
