We're heading to Madison this weekend (leaving in the afternoon) and are planning to drive the I-90 route, as opposed to along the lake, because I'm hoping it will be faster since we'll be with our 2 year old. Any ideas for where to stop and eat dinner along the way? Thanks in advance!

This post has absolutely nothing to do with food suggestions, but rather your intended route. As a frequent traveler to both Madison and Minneapolis, we've discovered the I-94 route (taking the 894 bypass around Milwaukee) to be the shorter, faster and, by virtue of having fewer tolls, cheaper path.

Looking at a map, I know it seems counter intuitive, but in fact it is all true. Also, the long stretches of construction happening on I-90, may make the I-94 route the more desirable choice.

    Have a great trip,
    Buddy

I did the drive straight up 90 on Thursday, made it there, even with construction traffic, in under 2.5 hours. The "world's largest Culver's" is nearer Madison than Chicago and my now 3 year old enjoyed a meal there last year.

Thanks for the input! That's good to know. I think I'll check the traffic both routes right before we leave to see which will work better.

Thanks! Glad to know it wasn't too bad of a drive. I'm sure my little guy would love Culver's.
