Has anyone heard of this place? Does it still exist?

We have a friend who knows about such things and claims that it served tremendous barbeque on an idiosyncratic schedule. The friend, however, has been away from Michigan for aout 10 years. We are going to be in the area and want to stop if there is any reason to do so.

Searching the web has turned up nothing. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,

I went over to anywho.com yellow pages for this town then added ray for the business establishment's name:

    Papa Ray's Family Restaurant
    1129 Page Avenue
    Jackson, MI 49203
    517-787-5066

This is the closest thing to a Texas ranch.

I'd call Ray's and inquire about the other Ray.

    Eureka! I found it!

    West Texas Barbeque CO
    2190 Brooklyn Road
    Jackson, MI 49203
    517-784-0510

Good luck! And now you own us a report!

Wow. Thank you for saving me from my terrible research skills. Look for a post in a couple weeks.

    Ed,

Less than 6 minutes ... just as I was about to close anywho.com I threw in 'Texas' into the business name slot. Anything with 'Texas' will pop up, which your BBQ place did.

    Have fun!

Sadly, we will never be able to sample the delights of the West Texas Barbeque Co. (aka Ray's West Texas BBQ) unless we attend a corporate event in southern Michigan. They no longer sell retail. We called and they told us this. We thought about driving up and asking for a sample anyway but we got lost and gave up. (We ended up at a fast food restaurant in Battle Creek by the name of Mr. Don's. Mr Don's lady's room has a sign which reads, "Insulin users -- please be considerate of others take your needles with you." Unfortunately we didn't learn this until after we ordered. Thankfully, none of us tried the wet burrito and the grilled cheese and ham was OK. All's well that ends well.)
