Though I did not attend the game (those poor Brewers having to put up with so many Cubs fans), I hear the brats aren't as good as Wrigley.

Sat on the river and had appetizers and beers at Rock Bottom Brewery. No complaints: basic bar food. Nachos, Soft Pretzel, Quesadillas, Wings, etc.

From there headed for a drink at Blu atop the Pfister hotel. Specialty martinis and wine flights drunk watching sailboats in the lake. Pretty.

Joey Buona's-- I don't know why I wanted to try this place. Maybe 'cause I was hopeful. Overpriced, under or overseasoned Italian. My lasagna had no ricotta, only ground beef, and was spicy with a highly acidic, unseasoned, sauce.

The chicken limone was well executed and quite good.

We were surprised to find pasta dishes priced higher than the chicken and beef dishes. I was disappointed overall here.

Morning breakfast at the Midway Diner next door to the downtown Holiday Inn at 5th and Wisconsin. Reasonably priced, tasty, breakfast food in a clean, bright and lively atmosphere. Very Good.

Next time I go, any other recs?

    Food Nut,

Please take this in the sprit I'm writing, one of observation, but two of the four places you went in Milwaukee, Rock Bottom Brewery and Joey Buona's, could be found in Chicago. In fact, Joey Buona's is an 'upscale' Milwaukee outpost of Buona Beef.

I certainly agree Blu, atop the Pfister, is a wonderful place to have a drink and Midway Diner sounds good as well, though I've not been.

Many of us are familiar with Milwaukee, I grew up there and visit regularly, and can recommend non chain alternatives to Joey's and Rock Bottom for your next trip.

You may wish to watch for an upcoming thread on the Mike G sponsored Milwaukee road trip, which takes place tomorrow. I, along with a few other intrepid LTHers, are heading to Milwaukee this Saturday AM.

Overall, it sounds like you had a nice time in Milwaukee, which is easy to do as it's a great place to visit.

    Enjoy,
    Gary
