A major value of posting on LTHForum is that it helps me document meals that are quickly lost in memory.

Woe to him that tries to reconstruct a meal months after it happened.

Woe to me as I try to recall what I had at La Teresita last May -- but I'll do what I can.

This restaurant recently moved into new quarters; note sign for cafeteria in back.

In back is a relatively small, add-on cafeteria.

I’m guessing this new cafeteria is an attempt to duplicate the vibe of the smaller, funkier previous location which is just feet away from the new structure:

Inside, it’s kind of confusing as there seem to be several separate operations (with the same kitchen). We just sat in the most well-lit space and ordered. We were en route to get the plane home, so we ate light: a Cuban sandwich:

And a chunk of steak with peas (forgot the name, thus part of my initial woe about posting this):

We liked it here, but as The Wife and I just had a huge fight about map directions (an installment of a continuing argument that began in 1974), I was trying my best to astrally project myself somewhere else throughout most of the meal, and thus have very little to say about it except that it tasted good and I would like to go there again…and am pretty sure I will.

    Hammond,

Cuban sandwich looks tasty, the line about map directions cracked me up.

    Enjoy,

Was just down in Tampa this past weekend, went tarpon fishing for the first time, landed an approx 120lb tarpon (Captain's estimate, not my fish story!! :) ).

For late afternoon dinner on Saturday we attempted to go to Alessi Bakery at 3:30pm. While open, the entire hot food area and fryers were offline, the only "hot" option they had was a Cuban Sandwich. The cook stated that it is normal for them to shut down this area after the noon rush. Seeing as they close at 6pm, I was none too happy.

Thankfully La Teresita is only 1 1/2 miles away from Alessi, so we popped over and sat at the counter in the diner area.

So darn good, my friend and I had the jamon croquettes, lechon w/mojo criollo, dried beef w/tomato & chopped chilies, a large Cuban sandwich as well as a devil crab and plantain chips with garlic sauce. All of it terrific except the devil crab, I much prefer the devil crab at Alessi.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.
