Gosh, I need to stop going to these far-flung places where nobody has any chow suggestions for me!
Anyway, left to my own devices, I circled downtown Davis with a growling stomach and finally wound up at Zia's Delicatessen, where I had a perfectly decent turkey, provolone and artichoke heart sandwich on a fresh roll, and a gooey lemon bar for dessert. Later on, I enjoyed my first ever Jamba Juice beverage-smoothie-thingy, which was a combination of raspberries, lime and a mysterious dose of "energy booster" or some such nonsense. It was perfectly lovely on a rather hot day, but did not provide any kind of energy enhancement whatsoever.
And if anybody else has Davis in their future travel plans, I must say that there seemed to be a number of cute-looking restaurants that are not necessarily the typical divey-college-town options, including a restaurant called Posh Bagel which tempted me on the basis of its name alone. What on earth defines a posh bagel?
