On any given night, you can see Shakespeare in Chicago…big whoop. Greek tragedy (not counting mediocre meals at Pegasus) – well, that’s a different story. Any way, I’m headed to see Medea, featuring Mr. and Mrs. Seth Zurer (aka Kerensa Peterson) Friday night, July 7, Chopin Theater, at 8:00 PM.

Afterwards, the first round of Freedom Fries at Mac’s is on me.

    More here: (http://www.backstagetheatrecompany.org/).

    Hope to see you there.

Thanks for the link. I'm glad to see the play runs through until July 23, because I have other plans tomorrow night (dinner at Alinea -- so not something I want to blow off, even with the promise of freedom fries). I'll try to catch the play later -- because you're right, there just isn't all that much Greek tragedy being produced these days -- especially Greek tragedy that features LTHers.

Oops! Didn't see this until 2 hours before curtain, and Ms L. and I have other plans. We'll try to catch it before it closes.

i saw the play saturday night and was very pleased i did. while the audience was (too) small, the play was beautifully staged; a simple but effective set, lighting well used to create moods and most importantly, the woman who played medea was phenomenal. (seth and kerensa were very good as well). this must be an extremely difficult role, played at fever pitch for much of the play. if medea isnt believable all is lost. a little extra drama was on hand, as one of the 3 members of the female chorus fainted early on, and returned but spent more time sitting than was in the script. she was a trooper and the show went on. i strongly urge everyone to see it before it closes on the 23rd of july. justjoan
