    Hi,

I guess it is my time to host. I do have a lovely long-haired cat who loves to socialize. I can leave him in my bedroom or let him roam. If you are allergic, you have been warned. I live in Highland Park that is easily accessible by the Metra North Line.

Kenji's Detroit Pizza will be served with a green salad. One pizza will have meat, likely pepperoni. If no vegetarians are expected, I may make a sausage, too, and/or a mushroom pizza. If Ms. Ingie attends, I will figure out a non-dairy pizza option.

Long ago on eBay, I bought 'The Cooking Game' designed by Jane Grigson, a noted British cookbook author. The game requires up to six players, so I suggest we may have teams of two to allow everyone to play. It revolves around cooking related questions. I played it so long ago, I vaguely recall the terms were UK-oriented. Some of the fun will be piecing together what the question means.

When LTHforum was founded, there was a steadfast rule for posters: no politics or religion. What we did not expect there is politics and religion of BBQ, Italian Beef and Pizza, which I am all ears. If you want to discuss real world politics and religion, you can do it elsewhere but not at my table. If you don't read the forum very much, why not read through a few threads so you can play inside baseball, too.

Everybody reserve for themselves, if anyone wants to join who is not on the forum, they can do the old-fashioned thing: register on LTHforum. Bringing along your Mother is a completely different story, though rarely has anyone brought their Mother.

    I can accommodate 10 people.

i'm afraid i'll be sitting out yet another dessert exchange as i'm still on a sugar restricted diet. it was ok having everyone to my place for a dessert exchange, even though i didnt taste anything except the filling in ava's donut, but it would be really masochistic if i tried to go elsewhere and just watch...

Moetchandon may or may not make it, but I'll join for the game, and bring something different, if you'll have me.

Your willingness to experiment is something I look forward to. Clearly we did not scare you off last month.

I hope you reap benefits from this restricted diet. I am sure you will be back in the swing soon.

I feel your pain. It's like going to a buffet the night before a colonoscopy.

I was considering it, but since you are having pizza I'll have to pass. I can't even be in a room when someone is eating pizza. Just the smell causes a reaction.

are the foods that bother you still changing? or have you figured out exactly what to avoid?

There have been new triggers in the last three months. Allergy testing came up all negative, so my allergist washed his hands of me and sent me to an ENT. The ENT disagreed with the assessment of the allergist and suggested I get a second opinion. I have been too busy to pursue further, but will investigate other doctors this week.

I'm sorry to take my name off the waiting list! I'm meeting my father-in-law after a play for dinner and the timing doesn't work, sadly. :( Tell kitty hello.

Small group, but fun. C2's Detroit-style pizzas (and other appetizers) were great. The dessert spread:

From top left, clockwise: Cookie Monster's Lemon Olive Oil Cake, C2's Schaum (meringue-based) Torte, Toria's Poppy Seed Bundt Cake, Moetchandon's Massive Whoopie Pie, and nr706's Olive Oil Gelatos (Plain, Olive, and Pecan). The role of The Cooking Game was well-appreciated.

    We did think about you.

To offer some additional perspective on the Whoopie Pie, it weighed five pounds.

Fun to have time to chat and eat.

    Thanks to everyone who came.
