    Behind Every Great Cook Is a Great Mother

    Culinary Historians of Canada member and author John Ota hosts conversations with prominent Canadian chefs, cooks and food writers about the influence of their mothers' cooking and kitchens on their own careers.

    Featuring John Ota, author of The Kitchen (Penguin Random House, 2020), in conversation with prominent Canadian chefs, cooks and food writers about the impact that their mothers and childhood kitchens had on their careers.

    CHC member John Ota is an architectural writer and the author of the acclaimed book The Kitchen: A Journey Through Time – and the Homes of Julia Child, Georgia O’Keeffe, Elvis Presley and Many Others – in Search of the Perfect Design (Penguin Random House, 2020). He has invited a stellar group of culinary luminaries to share memories and discuss how their food careers were inspired by their mothers. See below.
