For many years, the Evanston Lunch Group™ has had a summertime picnic; for the past two years we've dedicated the picnic to the memory of Gail Adams, who posted on LTH as Tarte Tatin. Gail was a long-time, fervent supporter of LTH who passed away suddenly in 2017, missing several LTH events she had been looking forward to.

We will be celebrating her memory again Monday, August 19, 12:30 pm at Larimer Park in Evanston.

For this picnic, we’ll get carryout from a number of favorite places, and convene on the picnic benches under the shelter in Larimer Park. Attendees willing to pick up easily sharable carryout for the group should sign up as such; others are most welcome too, to share whatever is brought. I’ll keep a list of who’s picking up food, and from where, as well as others joining us. By checking the list the day before or so, those picking up carryout should be able to gauge the appropriate quantities to bring. We’ll do our best to settle up at the picnic.

Larimer Park is one block east of Ridge, and one block south of Dempster. Parking is available on Crain St, or on Oak Ave south of Dempster (which ends in a cul-de-sac at the park’s edge). It's also a short walk west from the Purple Line's Dempster "L" stop. Here’s a map:

Here's the list of attendees and from where they'll bring food (to be periodically updated):

    nr706 — The Fish Keg
    Moetchandon — plates & tableware
    B2B — Valley Lodge
GAF — Gangnam Ramen, Korean fried chicken
    EvA — Evanston Chicken Shack
    rgl20 & chapulin — Tomate Fresh Kitchen
diverse dancer — enchiladas Mole from La Donita

Again, all are welcome. Hope to see many LTHers remembering Gail/Tarte Tatin there.

I will be there. Food to be determined. Thank you for choosing the date.

Can someone please clarify one thing?

If each of us brings multiple portions of something - let's say, just to use one example, enough fried chicken to feed four people - then we're going to have WAY more food than we need for lunch, and there will be tons of leftovers. If we each bring enough for one lunch, then it works out to about the right amount, no?

So, my question is, how much food should each of us plan on bringing?

We can always bring containers for left overs. The way I think about it is that I will typically bring the same dollar amount of food as I would pay for a typical Evanston LTH lunch. About $20 or so. But everyone can make their own decision. It is good if everyone has a taste of everything. Gail would want it that way.

I am planning to go to Gangnam Ramen for Korean fried chicken.

Sorry to have missed this. Unfortunately, ( or fortunately ) I was in Northern Minnesota hiking with my cousin. Any pictures?
