I couldn't believe how effortlessly the tiki bar came together, which is a testament to what great friends we have, and what ambitious people LTHers can be all around. With so many people offering a hand, I felt like I hardly ended up doing much, and the bar was erected and decorated in less than an hour.
Thanks everyone for bringing your best, and keeping this community awesome!
Laikom said beautifully what I was feeling, the ease and effortlessness of making the tiki bar happen made me understand what a special community formed on LTH. I worked with people I've met before and people I just met, all were a wonderful group. We exchanged emails, spreadsheets (thanks laikiom and boudreaulicious), and ideas online and then just hoped everyone would show up and come through and they did. Octarine, thank you for a last minute tool delivery and Atrill thanks for scrounging alleys for wood and making our lovely table tops. Alex, tylerjwatkins, kevin, laikom, boudreaulicious, fifille and Cathy2, you all showed up early to make the tiki hut and the pavilion space special for the picnic, thank you, and thank you to all the amazing cooks, I didn't get to try all you food, but what I did try was amazing. The gazpacho in aspic, BR's egg rolls and cake, jimswside's chicken, Tyler's char siu ribs, boudreaulicious's poke, Artill's takoyaki, Octarine's bo ssam, glennpann's yearly delivery of Uncle John's sausages, jazz food's artful presentation of glorious vegetables that alway tastes as good as it looks and Sue F's bobotie and accompanying chutney. There were others dishes I loved, but I'm still full and my memory is hazy from tiki drinks so please know that I probably tried your dish and loved it, but the overload hit me. BURP!
