A few ideas for future events:

    - Meeting at the Green City Market - both for the shopping and potentially for an upcoming chef's demo (Wednesday mornings in Lincoln Park, chef's demos usually at 10:30am)

    - Chinatown North - pastry crawl. Sampling the wide range of bakeries on and around Argyle and Broadway (not forgetting the desserts available in stores such as Thai Grocery, other markets in the area or other restaurants such as the other Thai restaurant down Broadway from Thai Avenue)

    - Chinatown North - Bah Mi tastying - trying Bah Mi's from some (all?) of the many choices around

    - Thai Avenue meal

    - TAC Quick meal (currently my favorite Thai place in the city)

    - Korean Barbeque - there was a place, I think on the 5500 block of Lincoln that was written up extensively on the other board (2nd floor above an Internet Cafe I think) which sounded quite worthy of a chowhound excursion

    - A summertime allnightathon - hitting new and different spots from previous ventures, with the bonus of nice weather (fingers crossed)

    - Rib tasting - taking a bit of coordination but my suggestion being that different people pick up ribs from Honey 1, Smoke Daddy, Lems and other worthy spots (probably Ribs + Rib Tips) and we all meet for an outdoor taste off someplace equidistant and outside so that all can be tasted next to each other. One possibly location might be someplace like Garfield Park - which is just off an El (green line), not far from Honey 1 or Smoke Daddy and possibly close enough via Expressways for Lems)?

    Just some quick ideas....

    All these sound good!

I would be particularly interested in (in no particular order)

    - Chinatown North - pastry crawl
    - Chinatown North - Bah Mi tastying
    - Rib tasting

Events only happen when someone takes the lead and makes the happen. Psychef threw together a Scotch tasting, GAF made Moto happen, Gary arranged for the recent LTH LTH dinner. There are no subjective events. Only events where someone takes the lead and does the necessary tasks to make it happen.

So, Shannon, if you wanna do any of those events. Do 'em. There is nothing there that does not sound fun or interesting. I tend to pick my events primarily on whether I can make the day/time. If one of those things is planned when I could make it, I'd go. Just give me the details.

    PS
In many a chow-event, including ones I have organized, many hounds have been willing to lend a hand when asked. Every event I have organized has been a collaborative effort. But someone has to get the ball rollin'.

    Hattyn,

Do you mean the Mount Horub Mustard Museum in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin? I've been and it is a worthy destination for any and all LTHers.

In the same general area is Baumgartner Cheese Store and Tavern home of the stinkiest limburger in the known universe. I've had it on rye with a slice of onion and, years later, the taste lingers. :) Baumgartner, which is about 30-miles from the Mustard Museum, also has burgers and local summer sausage sandwiches, in addition to cool murals of the Swiss Alps. Both are fun places to visit.

Hattyn, just as an aside, while I was pretty sure you meant the Mount Horub Mustard Museum I still googled ~mustard museum~, it took .28 seconds for google to render 359, 000 responses, the first 10, at least, all referring to the Mount Horub Mustard Museum.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

After the experience of the Scotch tasting, where everyone was so helpful, and participatory, I have been thinking of what another good event would be (though laying low a bit to let the Scotch digest). Had the thought that a Sherry tasting would be fun, combined with so tapas action. I liked the chance we had with Scotch to bring our own bottles, but not every place would accomodate. We should try to find a sherry expert, as well

Also like the idea of a Belgian beer tasting, which Michael at Hopleaf could do as the expert.
