Thinking about noteworthy pizza options now available in the Chicago area since that time which aren't national chains, off the top of my head I thought of Bonci, Roots, Bartoli's, also Detroit style places.
Another notable relatively recent development with regard to local pizza is Steve Dolinsky's pizza tour and associated book.

Wow - seems like it was just yesterday! Since Craig's favorite pizza remains Tombstone, I'm not sure recent developments would have any impact at all if this were to happen now (or again).
