I have some lard for sale. We raised 3 pigs this year and we usually only do 1 or 2. They also grew much bigger so the short story is I have too much lard.
It is all the lard rendered from our pigs so I have to assume it is not solely leaf lard, but a combination of the various grades. We’ve used it for baking (including pie crusts) to our satisfaction. But to say it has no pork smell or flavor while cooking would not be true. However, the taste in the finished product to us is very good. It’s also great for seasoning cast iron as it has a low smoke point and leaves a great finish.
We also asked for it with no preservatives. So it’s labeled with some things that are not in there. I have our cut sheet from the butcher as proof of that.
I’m selling it for less than I paid. I have 3 containers that are about a gallon. They are 10.00 each. I work in Bannockburn (near Deerfield) at Half Day Rd and 94. You’ll need to come to me, I’m there M-F until 2:00 most days. PM if interested.
